The chair’s design explores the natural properties of materials to aid its use. The flexibility of mild steel tube allows for supported movement, while post-consumer recycled HDPE slabs demonstrate hygienic surfaces with unparalleled longevity and durability.

Summerday’s frame is hand-rolled locally, whereas the seat and the back have been manufactured from somewhat randomly coloured shredded plastic with non-consistent swirls – so no piece is identical to another, and that’s the beauty of it all.

OK, we have ticked off the functionality of the PET wall panelling application, where it helps to restrict sound travel, even further, if combined with the ceiling application. However, this material, as any other board material, is versatile and can be taken further to personalise the space and add a statement with colour and texture.

A custom design, using colour, can bring life and functionality to a wall in a meeting, boardroom, break out or office space, where further interest can be added by applying a groove pattern to select parts of the design. We found combining 9mm and 12mm thick boards, can further enhance a multi-dimensional feel.

Jumping on board a ‘Monolith’ design movement train helped us to pare down the visual language of this range to the bare minimal geometric forms. This, we feel, secures seamless integration into many architectural environments, not dominating, but gently channeling the productivity of its inhabitants.
